Turbo Golf Racing, developed by Hugecalf Studios, had teed off into the world of arcade-style sports games, offering a unique twist on the traditional game of golf by combining it with fast-paced kart racing action. With its energetic gameplay and engaging mechanics, Turbo Golf Racing feels similar to Rockey League but aims to carve out its own niche in the genre, leveraging significant improvements made during its time in Early Access on PC. It’s now available for all major systems and supports cross platform play. Our primary platform for this review was the PS5.
In Turbo Golf Racing, players take control of customizable golf car(t)s, racing against up to seven other competitors in a frantic battle to be the first to sink their ball into the goal – you can see how this sounds similar to a certain other game. The game offers three main modes: Racing, Golf, and Time Trials, each providing a distinct gameplay experience. Building upon the foundations introduced during Early Access, the gameplay mechanics have been further refined to offer smoother controls and enhanced responsiveness, allowing for precise maneuvering and satisfying gameplay moments, and it plays well on the DualSense.

One of the standout features of Turbo Golf Racing is its innovative Core system, which allows players to equip various passive and active abilities to suit and tweak their playstyle. During recent months, the Core system has also been expanded and balanced to offer a wider variety of strategic options, encouraging players to experiment with different setups for optimal performance and versatility on the track. It’s a fun system to play around with, and makes sure that the experience stays fresh longer.
Despite its engaging gameplay mechanics, Turbo Golf Racing still faces some challenges. While the matches have been extended and pacing adjusted to allow for more strategic gameplay and memorable moments, there is still room for improvement in terms of match length and variety of power-ups. However, if the developers continue to show their commitment to addressing player feedback and improving the overall experience, we can expect updates and patches to improve upon this.

Visually, Turbo Golf Racing has a vibrant and colorful art style, with well-designed tracks and dynamic visual effects that bring the game world to life. While the music has been enhanced with new tracks and improved audio quality, it still may not reach a level where it becomes memorable. Nevertheless, the strong audio design for sound effects adds to the excitement of each race, immersing players in the adrenaline-fueled action on the track.
In conclusion, Turbo Golf Racing has benefited come out of its Early Access phase as a solid title, with significant improvements made to gameplay mechanics, balance, and overall polish. While it may not revolutionize the genre, its engaging mechanics and enjoyable multiplayer modes make it a worthy addition to your gaming library if you were drawn to similar titles in the past. With continued support and updates from the developers, Turbo Golf Racing has the potential to become the next hole-in-one hit among players seeking competitive multiplayer action with a twist.
