The last few months of the year aren’t just about big new releases, because plenty of existing games are also getting new content in the form of DLC launches. Today we’re checking out new additions for Everspace 2, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Persona 3 Reload.
Everspace 2 – Titans DLC review
The Titans DLC for Everspace 2 brings an exciting new chapter to the excellent spacefaring action RPG that is Everspace 2, introducing two fresh storylines. One focuses on the colossal Outlaw Dreadnought, which offers players a thrilling and large-scale space battle alongside NPC wingmen, pushing the combat mechanics to new heights. The DLC also introduces Leviathans, mysterious and massive creatures that players must explore from the inside to uncover valuable rewards, adding a new twist to the familiar gameplay.
While the encounters with the Dreadnought are a highlight, the Leviathan missions may not offer the same level of excitement for all players. Despite their awe-inspiring scale, these procedurally generated encounters eventually lack depth and feel somewhat repetitive after a few runs. However, the reward system is well-implemented, encouraging players to dive deeper into the Khaït Nebula to find rare items and gear, including legendaries and catalysts, which add more variety to the loot system.

Visually, the Titans DLC remains impressive, continuing the high standards set by Everspace 2, with stunning ship designs and detailed environments. The massive battles and encounters look spectacular, and the DLC’s audio design complements the tense and dynamic moments in space combat. While not without its flaws, Titans offers a lot for returning players, especially those who appreciate Everspace 2’s intense dogfights and loot-based progression – and it’s still gorgeous to look at as well.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – Mask of Darkness DLC review (PS5)
The Mask of Darkness DLC for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown offers an intriguing expansion to the base game’s mythological narrative. Set within the dark, foreboding landscapes of Mount Qaf, the DLC emphasizes challenging platforming and combat sequences. Utilizing time manipulation mechanics, players face mythological enemies and corrupted creatures, expanding the game’s strategic depth. The combination of puzzle-solving and exploration also adds variety, though some of the platforming can feel unforgiving at times.
Visually, Mask of Darkness continues to impress, with highly detailed biomes and Persian-inspired environments that provide a strong sense of atmosphere. However, despite the lush visuals, you shouldn’t expect something that’s very different from what the base game established – though that’s not a problem because The Lost Crown features some excellent level designs. The difficulty spikes in some areas can be a tad frustrating for those unfamiliar with the series’ platforming-heavy focus, but fans will certainly find what they’re looking for here.

The DLC also excels in audio and sound design, adding a layer of immersion to the already gripping action. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, Mask of Darkness offers a solid continuation for fans of the base game, blending challenging combat, puzzle-solving, and well-crafted environments into an enjoyable, albeit somewhat familiar, experience. An easy recommendation if you, like us, enjoyed The Lost Crown.
Persona 3 Reload: DLC Episode Aigis – The Answer review (PS5)
The Episode Aigis – The Answer DLC for Persona 3 Reload revisits the core members of S.E.E.S. as they navigate the mysterious “never-ending” March 31st, expanding on one of the more engaging mysteries in the original game’s storyline. The narrative focuses on Aigis as she journeys through the Abyss of Time, providing fresh perspectives on the events after the main game. The philosophical undertones and emotional weight of Aigis’ quest to understand the truth behind the recurring day offer a unique twist for returning fans.

The DLC introduces challenging new combat encounters and dungeons, maintaining the series’ signature turn-based system while adding enough new elements to keep things fresh. However, the emphasis on these battles can start to feel a bit too repetitive over time – with less time spent on story and character exposition. The gameplay mechanics are mostly unchanged though, so those familiar with Persona 3 Reload will feel right at home.
Visually, the DLC stays true to the aesthetic of the base game with its detailed environments and stylish character designs. The soundtrack, featuring new tracks alongside familiar tunes, adds to the overall immersion, complementing the emotional beats of Aigis’ journey. Though not groundbreaking, Episode Aigis – The Answer serves as a meaningful epilogue for those invested in the characters and narrative of Persona 3 Reload.
