Vendetta Forever brings new action-packed thrills to virtual reality, delivering a homage to classic action films with high-intensity gunplay and a unique momentum-driven mechanic. Set against a cinematic backdrop filled with cult action tropes, this game stands out for its pace and the inventive “Lo-Kill-Motion” mechanic. Here, every takedown allows players to seize their enemy’s weapon mid-air, fueling forward momentum and making each encounter a test of tactical thinking as well as reflexes. This core mechanic, built on top of SUPERHOT’s “the world moves when you move” mechanic, creates an almost dance-like flow as players zip between foes, constantly strategizing their next move with an acrobatic flair that feels exhilarating, with very few hiccups as we tested it on the Meta Quest platform.
From saloon brawls to high-altitude shootouts, Vendetta Forever taps into iconic action settings and a nostalgia-infused vibe that’s well-suited to VR. The game is broken into over 60 short levels that provide quick, intense bursts of action, perfect for players who want a pick-up-and-play experience – even if, with a few restarts, it might take you a few minutes to get through a level. However, once you get comfortable the brevity of these levels sometimes leads to a sense of repetition, as environments and enemy types begin to feel familiar after extended play sessions. Still, each stage offers players a wide arsenal, from silenced pistols and sniper rifles to a sharp pencil. This variety helps keep the gameplay fresh, and the ability to unlock new modifiers offers an extra layer of replayability, as players can customize their approach for leaderboard challenges.

Visually, Vendetta Forever captures the gritty, high-contrast style of the movies it pays homage to, with neon highlights and shadowed corridors that amplify the tension of each encounter. On the Meta Quest, the visuals hold up reasonably well, though some textures lack sharpness when compared to visuals you might get on more powerful VR headsets. The immersion is boosted by the game’s synth-infused soundtrack, which pounds alongside the action, intensifying each firefight and making players feel like they’re living out an action-packed sequence. However, occasional audio sync issues can disrupt the experience, especially when sound cues don’t align perfectly with on-screen action. This is a minor setback but one that’s noticeable in an otherwise polished audiovisual presentation, and we expect this to be patched out in the near future as well.
While the gunplay is generally responsive, the controls can feel imprecise during complex maneuvers, especially in levels requiring rapid succession of acrobatic moves and shots. This can lead to moments of frustration when the fluidity of movement breaks down, and players find themselves wrestling with the controls. For the most part, though, the controls feel intuitive, and the game’s unique kill-to-move system keeps players engaged, pushing them to master each level’s flow and rhythm.

Overall, Vendetta Forever is a love letter to fans of cult action cinema, bringing the high-stakes energy of those films into VR with a gameplay mechanic that encourages tactical, stylish action. While it has minor technical issues and a tendency for some repetition, the game’s adrenaline-pumping pace and thrilling audiovisual design make it an engaging choice for VR action enthusiasts looking for a quick, cinematic fix. This is an experience that’s as much about reliving the intense, stylized violence of action movies as it is about challenging oneself to master the rhythm of seamless, high-octane gunplay, and it’s the best take on the SUPERHOT formula we’ve seen so far. A must-play for VR owners.
