Blue Beetle review (BluRay)

Warner Bros. takes another stab at the superhero genre with “Blue Beetle,” a film that balances family dynamics and extraterrestrial powers. Directed by Angel Manuel Soto and penned by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the narrative centers on recent college graduate Jaime Reyes, whose life takes an unexpected turn when an alien relic, the Scarab, chooses him as its host. With so much digital content out there now, we gravitate towards boxed sets when we think about good gift idea suggestions for the holidays. And this one came out a few years ago, but Warner Bros’ Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection in 4K seems like a great fit for the holiday period. With 8 films it’s just about manageable when you have one or two weeks off, and with plenty of magic and wonder it’s a lovely fit for the season as well. Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection review (4K)

Few shows have been as impactful as Game of Thrones, the HBO series based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy epic “A Song of Ice and Fire.” It’s a narratively and visually captivating journey through the intricate power struggles of the ancient kingdom of Westeros, with a storyline that revolves around four prominent family Houses. The Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons and Targaryens all vying for control of the coveted Iron Throne, navigating a terrain of political intrigue, bloodletting, incest and betrayal. And even if you’ve already seen it when it aired on HBO, the 4K boxed set that’s out there is absolutely fantastic and makes for a great gift idea this holiday season because of its audiovisual upgrades and plentiful extras.
