This September, Amsterdam will host its second annual Comic Con, and it’s shaping up to be an event that’s destined to attract international attention from fans all over Europe.
Organized by Comic Con Europe, the event models itself after the famous San Diego edition with its blend of Hollywood, TV, comics, cosplay and anime. Heavily emphasizing sci-fi and fantasy, talent from all over the globe will be heading to the Amsterdam RAI venue on September 2nd and 3rd. Last year’s inaugural Amsterdam Comic Con drew no less than 30,000 fans, and this year’s lineup gives them plenty of reasons to head back to the Dutch capital.
International stars including Pamela Anderson, Michael Madsen, Kim Coates, Billy Boyd and John Rhys-Davies will all be attending – no doubt to the delight of fans of Baywatch, Reservoir Dogs, Resident Evil, Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones. Joining them are stars from popular tv shows including Doctor Who, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, but it’s not just current shows that get the spotlight. Hellraiser’s Clare Higgins, American Ninja’s Michael Dudikoff and Sarah Douglas from the classic Superman and Conan movies will also be in attendance – as will many other actors. It’s not just about the on-screen talent though, as film props from Jurassic Park, Nightmare on Elm Street and Back to the Future will also be on display – including a DeLorean time machine!
Besides actors from the big and small screen, comics and cosplay already feature heavily at the Amsterdam Comic Con, with tons and tons of merchandise available to buy – no doubt including rare items you’ve always wanted or didn’t even know existed. Several graphic artists will also be at the event to demonstrate their skills and perhaps even for you to commission them for something truly unique.
Add a lineup of competitions, readings, demonstrations, activities and panels to the list, and it’s one of those events where there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. We’ll be attending, so stay tuned for updates, interviews and reports before, during and after the show.

If you ever wanted to visit the San Diego Comic Con but dread the distance and cost of such an endeavor, then this is a great alternative to get a taste of pop culture that’s hard to find anywhere else. Amsterdam is easy to reach from most European destinations, and the RAI venue is a short train ride away from Schiphol airport. We’ll be attending, so…
