The Cub review (PS5)
In The Cub, Demagog Studio, whose creative minds we previously saw at work in Golf Club Wasteland, invites players into another captivating post-apocalyptic world. This one was inspired by the nostalgic charm of 90s console platformers like Aladdin and The Lion King, which those who had a Genesis or SNES at the time will fondly remember. Set against the backdrop of a doomed Earth abandoned by the ultra-rich, the game follows the journey of a small child, The Cub, who must navigate treacherous environments, outwit evolved wildlife, and escape the pursuit of humans from who’ve traveled back here from their new home on Mars. Toy Trains review (Quest)
Embarking on a virtual journey through Toy Trains on the Meta Quest is like a nostalgia-fueled journey with the kind of stuff you may remember your (grand)parents having around. Developed by Something Random, a team comprised of former SUPERHOT developers, Toy Trains is certainly a departure from their previous intense gaming experience, offering players a delightful and relaxing virtual reality (VR) adventure. Prince of Persia – The Lost Crown review (PS5)
We weren’t sure what to think of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown when it was announced. After all, the remake of Sands of Time has had some production issues and this was going to be a bold new direction for the franchise, with Ubisoft taking a step into the realm of Metroidvanias. This 2.5D adventure meant a departure from the traditional 3D format that fans might have expected from the franchise, yet also a possible return to the roots. The game, available on major systems including the PlayStation 5, invites players to dash into a stylish and thrilling action-adventure platformer set in a mythological Persian world where time and space are at the player’s command – here’s our review.
