Micro Machines: Mini Challenge Mayhem review (Quest)

In the world of virtual reality (VR) racing, Micro Machines: Mini Challenge Mayhem attempts to recapture the nostalgic joy of miniature racing with a franchise that became really popular when it launched about thirty years ago. Developed by WIMO Games and out now for the Meta Quest platform, the game falls short of delivering the excitement and engagement we were hoping for. Bahnsen Knights review (PS5)

In Bahnsen Knights, the third installment of the “Pixel Pulps” series developed by LCB Game Studio that is being published by Chorus Worldwide Games, players are immersed in a gritty, post-apocalyptic world as an undercomothver agent named Boulder. Tasked with infiltrating the Bahnsen Knights, a fanatical cult with a penchant for religious fervor and – for some reason – Ford Sierras, Boulder must unravel the mystery behind his friend Cupra’s disappearance. The game promises a branching narrative, the gameplay style that made us enjoy the studio’s previous work, as well as a number of puzzles, all wrapped up in the distinctive style of Pixel Pulps even though this is a standalone title. Baldur’s Gate 3 review (PS5)

After a lovely holiday break, we’re back – and what better way to start 2024 than to shine the spotlight on what is arguably the best game to be released last year: Baldur’s Gate 3. We played through the PlayStation 5 version of the game, which was released back in August, after the PC version first marked the triumphant return of a legendary CRPG series. Larian Studios has produced something that sets a new benchmark, surpassing even Larian’s own Divinity: Original Sin 2 – which was already an excellent RPG.
