Gamescom 2012: 1C

1C Company may not be the most familiar software publisher/developer for a lot of you, but the Moscow-based company licenses and publishes over half of all the games we know and love in Russia. Arguably the largest publisher in the world, they also have their own development teams and release Russian-developed titles globally. Flight sim fans should check out their IL-2 Sturmovik games, and real time strategy buffs could do a lot worse than check out 1C’s Men of War series. Time to see what they will be releasing next… Continue reading “Gamescom 2012: 1C”

State of the systems

I’ll admit that I’m not part of the crowd that instantly buys a new videogame system when it comes out. So when the Playstation Vita was released in the USA and Europe last week, I didn’t rush out to go buy one. Instead, I used the release as a moment to gather my thoughts on all the current and upcoming gaming systems and figured I’d share those thoughts with you as well. Sennheiser 2/3: Player Interviews

After learning about gaming headsets, the technology behind them and their applications, I felt it was time to check in with some pro gamers to see how much of that technology actually resonates with them. To this end, I spoke with three members of Benelux based e-sports team LowLandLions, each specializing in a different game genre. Gamescom 2010 report: 4/4

The final stop on my tour of gamescom 2010 is hall number 9, where developer Bigpoint’s booth was (quite literally) one of the bigger eye-catchers. With loud music, near-constant dance performances and countless giveaways, they drew in the crowds to promote its online title Poisonville. Though I would dare suggest that including Germany’s playmate of the month (Bernadette Kaspar) as a character in the game and having her meet visitors at the booth in Cologne certainly did not hurt them either. I just called it a very good excuse to dust off those old German language skills 😉 Turns out she was very sweet and down-to-earth when talking to her, but if you want to see her as a Grand Theft Auto-esque character then check out the game, which can be played for free starting this month.
