Under Defeat review (PS5)
The shoot-’em-up genre has seen a resurgence in recent years, bringing classic arcade experiences to modern platforms as well as seeing an explosion of indie releases in the genre. Under Defeat, originally developed by G.rev, is the latest to join this wave, now arriving on PlayStation 5 in what’s being dubbed a ‘definitive edition’. Having first debuted in arcades in 2005 and later making its way to the Dreamcast and other previous console generations, the game retains its old-school appeal while introducing enhancements that help it feel fresh. Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles returns with a refreshed take on the 2000 game that is now celebrating its 25th anniversary.
