Quantum Threshold review (Quest)

Quantum Threshold takes familiar VR shooter mechanics to new territory – strapping players into a virtual weaponized wheelchair in a ruined future besieged by rogue AI. Set across procedurally generated zones, each run immerses you in tense combat and strategic choices. The roguelike structure is familiar, but the wheelchair locomotion gives it a novel twist, offering a new take on seated VR as a tool for speed and precision. Dune: Awakening review (PC)

Stepping foot on Arrakis in Dune: Awakening, out now for PC, is a visceral plunge into a desert world that feels both expansive and alive. The early hours wrap you in a survivalist atmosphere – managing hydration, heat exposure, and sandworm threats – before the wider MMORPG systems come into play. It’s here, in those tense moments hiding from the scorching sun or racing across the dunes by ornithopter, that the game begins to feel like a proper expression of the Dune universe. Lost in Random: The Eternal Die review (PS5)

With Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, developer Stormteller Games returns to the whimsical and nightmarish world of Random, previously introduced by Zoink. Acting as both a spin-off and a standalone roguelike, the game revisits the dice-driven chaos and gothic aesthetic that helped the original stand out, but this time through a more combat-heavy, procedural lens. While its strategic depth and art direction hit familiar highs, a few design quirks and uneven pacing keep it just short of greatness. The end result is still a strong title, which we checked out on a PlayStation 5. Continue reading “Lost in Random: The Eternal Die review (PS5)”

Section 13 review (PS5)

Stepping into Section 13 feels like diving headfirst into a noir-infused sci-fi showdown – one where rogue agents face containment breaches, eldritch horrors, and locked-down AI, all wrapped in sardonic corporate satire. The core narrative thrust, centered around Agent Red and her eclectic squad, is more fleshed-out than you might expect for a twin-stick roguelite. Each character – whether it’s the reckless Boy Scout or the dryly humorous Beaker – has backstory elements and personal mysteries that unfold between runs, helped along by solid voice acting and a tone that balances paranoia, dark humor, and suspense. We tried it out on a PlayStation 5. Continue reading “Section 13 review (PS5)”
