On paper, that makes it an accessible all-rounder for both gaming and everyday use, and after spending time with it, that assessment largely holds true. The Fuse gets the fundamentals right, but its deliberately compact and low-profile shape, somewhat basic materials and a few questionable control placements prevent it from feeling quite as universally comfortable as its symmetrical design initially suggests.
At 75 grams with the supplied AAA battery installed, the Pulsefire Fuse strikes a sensible middle ground. It is light enough to move quickly across a mousepad without requiring much effort, while the solid shell avoids the hollow or fragile feeling that can sometimes accompany ultra-light gaming mice. There is no honeycomb construction here, and the chassis feels sufficiently rigid, with no obvious flex or creaking during normal use. The magnetic top cover is particularly practical, making battery replacement simple while also providing a compartment for storing the 2.4GHz receiver. That is a small but useful touch for anyone who regularly moves between a desk and another location. The matte finish also keeps the understated black design looking relatively clean, although the overall construction understandably lacks the more refined feel of considerably more expensive gaming mice.

Bluetooth provides a second option for laptops and other compatible devices, making the Fuse more flexible than an everyday mouse, although the additional latency makes it less appropriate for competitive gaming. Switching between the two modes is handled from the underside, which again prioritises preventing accidental changes over convenience. There is no wired mode, so this is entirely a wireless proposition, but that is less problematic than it might initially sound because the mouse does not depend on a proprietary charging cable or an internal rechargeable battery. Instead, a standard AAA cell can simply be replaced when necessary.
That battery arrangement is perhaps the Fuse’s most obvious point of difference. HyperX rates the mouse for up to 85 hours from a single AAA battery, and the supplied cell makes it ready to use straight out of the box. As per the norm, the exact runtime will vary considerably depending on usage and settings, so if you don’t like replacing batteries this might not be the mouse for you. Still, replacing a AAA battery takes only a few seconds, and there is no need to remember to charge the mouse – and replaceable batteries work too. The downside is equally straightforward: the Fuse cannot be used as a wired mouse while the battery is being replaced, and users who prefer rechargeable peripherals may regard the lack of an integrated battery as a step backwards.
HyperX’s NGENUITY software provides the expected level of customisation without turning the Fuse into a particularly complicated peripheral. DPI levels can be adjusted, buttons can be reassigned, polling-rate settings can be changed and the relatively restrained RGB lighting can be configured, while one profile can be stored on the mouse itself. That is enough for most users who want to configure the Fuse once and then get on with gaming. More advanced NGENUITY options such as surface calibration and lift-off-distance adjustment are absent here, so this is not a mouse aimed at users who want to fine-tune every possible sensor parameter. The RGB lighting is similarly modest, adding a little visual interest around the wheel and rear of the mouse rather than becoming a major part of its appearance.
That restrained approach ultimately defines the Pulsefire Fuse Wireless. It does not feel like a mouse designed to impress through a huge feature list, and its 12,000 DPI capability is far more specification than most players will ever need. Instead, its appeal lies in combining a sensible 75-gram weight, reliable 2.4GHz wireless, useful Bluetooth connectivity, a competent sensor and straightforward battery replacement in one relatively affordable package. At the same time, the compromises are difficult to ignore. The low-profile shape will not suit every hand, the supposedly ambidextrous design favors right-handed users because of the side buttons, those buttons themselves could be better, and the underside DPI control is inconvenient for anyone who changes sensitivity frequently. The basic plastic construction and audible switches also make it clear that this is a budget-oriented peripheral rather than a premium one.
For everyday gaming, however, the Pulsefire Fuse is generally more capable than its modest positioning might suggest. The sensor does not introduce obvious tracking problems, the wireless connection feels dependable, and the low weight makes moving and repositioning the mouse easy without resorting to an ultra-light honeycomb shell. It works particularly well when the player’s hand size and preferred grip match its flatter shape, and it is equally comfortable being used for less demanding tasks such as browsing or productivity. The result is a gaming mouse that is easy to understand: it offers the important fundamentals without trying to turn every aspect of the experience into a premium feature. Its weaknesses are mostly physical rather than technological, and that makes the Fuse a more appealing proposition for players who fit its ergonomics than for those who expect a genuinely universal ambidextrous design.
The HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless therefore lands as a competent, practical gaming mouse rather than a product that radically changes what can be expected from an affordable wireless peripheral. Its solid shell, low weight, capable PAW3311 sensor, dependable 2.4GHz connection and easily replaceable battery all work in its favor, while the understated aesthetics keep it from looking overly flashy. At the same time, the awkward side buttons, underside DPI switch, low profile and limited left-handed usability are meaningful compromises rather than minor technicalities. For the right user, those drawbacks may never become particularly important; for someone with larger hands, a strong preference for rechargeable hardware or a need for genuinely ambidextrous controls, they could become apparent very quickly. The Fuse ultimately succeeds when its limitations happen to align with the user’s preferences, making its physical design the most important thing to consider before making the move to HyperX’s budget wireless option.
