Insert Coin – Director Interview
As an outlet that covers the worlds of film and videogames, few things get us more excited than a good documentary about videogames. The recently released film “Insert Coin” dives into the arcade history of the Midway brand that had such a big impact on arcade gaming in the 1990s as they built on their (and Williams’) classic arcade legacy from the 1980s. It’s an era that older games fondly remember and one that helped shape today’s videogame landscape. Developer Interview: Coffee Noir
The indie scene is often a breeding ground for interesting new concepts, not rarely fusing two or more different genres together. An interesting new take on this is Coffee Noir from Polish-based developer Doji, a game that’s also dubbed “business detective game”. It brings together the business elements of running a coffee business with a detective story in a film noir style, while also incorporating visual novel elements. They’ve published Planes Control and 2 Minutes in Space as mobile titles already and have more in the works, while also managing the remote work facility SPACE Coworking on the island of Tenerife – a place where game designers and other creative industries work side by side. 4 Minutes to the Apocalypse by Atomic Wolf Games was recently announced with a teaser trailer that definitely piqued our interest, with its action adventure approach to a setting in which nuclear attacks have already taken place and you find yourself aboard a submarine armed with enough firepower to wipe out what little is left of mankind.
