Indie Interviews: Melbits POD (Gamescom)

During Gamescom, we had the pleasure of taking part in UKIE’s Eurovision-inspired video game contest EuroPlay. Bringing together 15 promising upcoming games from 15 different countries, the public was allowed to vote on their favorite upcoming production. Each game first had to get through a preliminary round in their respective country, so the total number of games competing was even higher with nominees like DiRT 5 and Monstrum 2 competing for the UK’s opening round. Eventually, Melbits POD from Spain became the big winner of the event, and we spoke to the people behind this very novel new physical/digital hybrid concept both during and after the show. Here’s what we learned about this exciting new gaming concept. Continue reading “Indie Interviews: Melbits POD (Gamescom)”

As we keep highlighting some of the excellent indies there were a part of Gamescom this past week, we now look towards Aeon Drive from 2Awesome Studio, an action platformer focused on speedrunning that is currently being developed and takes place in “Cyberpunk Barcelona” – it’s unclear if Messi is still around or not. Indie Interviews: SOLAS (Gamescom)

As we continue our journey past some of the exciting indie productions that are coming out in the next year, we stop at SOLAS by Amicable Animal, a 2D puzzle game with interconnected levels in which you (re)direct light beams to the rhythm of a synthwave soundtrack. We chatted with developer Tom Methven about the upcoming puzzler, of which you can already find a playable demo on Steam. If you’re interested in engaging with the development of the game, then definitely stop by the Discord as well. Continue reading “Indie Interviews: SOLAS (Gamescom)”

Indie Interviews: Foregone (Gamescom)

Big Blue Bubble’s upcoming 2D action-platformer Foregone was featured at Gamescom this past week as part of the Indie Arena Booth. Reminding us a bit of Castlevania and Dead Cells, we were eager to hear from the developers about what inspired them and how the game is progressing. After an earlier release on the Epic Games store in early access, it’s scheduled for a console launch next month. Continue reading “Indie Interviews: Foregone (Gamescom)”

Indie Interviews: Leif’s Adventure: Netherworld Hero (Gamescom)

We’re looking at another indie game that caught our eye during Gamescom, with a look at Leif’s Adventure: Netherworld Hero by OneManOnMars. We talked to Hamburg-based Roman Fuhrer, who after a career in AAA game development is now producing his Leif’s Adventure, an action adventure game that supports cooperative play in addition to its single player mode. Scheduled for 2021, you can already check out the Steam page and the demo that’s on there. Continue reading “Indie Interviews: Leif’s Adventure: Netherworld Hero (Gamescom)”
