Unholy review (PS5)

Unholy, developed by Duality Games, finally makes its debut on PlayStation 5 after its initial PC release in 2023. The game blends horror, puzzle-solving, and stealth mechanics to create a tense, unsettling experience, with a narrative that delves into dark themes of loss and survival. The story revolves around a mother searching for her missing child, a premise that effectively draws players into a bleak, dual-world setting. One world reflects a post-Soviet, brutalist reality, while the other is a twisted, grotesque society ruled by a merciless priest caste. The contrast between these two worlds forms the heart of Unholy’s atmosphere, which is both visually striking and unnerving. Continue reading “Unholy review (PS5)”

DeathSprint 66 review (PC)

We recently had the opportunity to meet with the developers of DeathSprint 66 during Gamescom, where we had our first hands-on time with the game. After getting a taste of its intense, fast-paced action, we were eager to dive deeper into the full experience. The game, developed by Sumo Digital and published by Secret Mode, brings a fusion of competitive racing and gladiatorial combat to the PC. Set in a dystopian future where the thrill of violence and speed are broadcasted to a bloodthirsty audience, the game casts players as “Clone Jockeys” who must race for their lives, quite literally. With an endless supply of clones at your disposal, every race is a fresh opportunity to prove your worth, or to die trying. It’s a bit like Death Race, but on foot, and on steroids. Crossy Road Castle review (PS5)

Crossy Road Castle, developed by Hipster Whale, brings a fresh twist to the platforming genre by expanding on the beloved formula of the original niche hit Crossy Road. This time around, the focus is on chaotic, co-op multiplayer fun, as players make their way through procedurally generated towers filled with traps, enemies, and quirky surprises. The PlayStation 5 version of the game captures the essence of classic arcade fun, making it an easy-to-pick-up title, but one with enough replay value to keep you coming back for more. Perennial Order review (PS5)

Perennial Order, developed by Gardenfiend Games and published by SOEDESCO, delivers an atmospheric 2D boss rush experience set in a dark fantasy world. It borrows elements from games like Hollow Knight and Titan Souls, blending intense, one-hit-death combat with intricate visual storytelling. It offers a unique spin on the boss rush formula, pulling players into a nature-infested horror where every encounter is a test of both skill and endurance, and we tested it on a PlayStation 5.
