The Chernobyl disaster that happened on April 26, 1986 continues to fascinate us, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 isn’t the only game coming out this year that focuses on it. Chornobyl Liquidators by Live Motion Games aims to place players into the shoes of the unsung heroes who battled the invisible and deadly enemy of radiation as the disaster unfolded, making for an interesting premise. But despite its noble intentions and gripping atmosphere, the game struggles to deliver a cohesive and engaging experience over the course of its relatively short runtime. RKGK / Rakugaki review (PC)
Wabisabi Games’ RKGK / Rakugaki, which is out now on Steam, offers a combination of platforming action and graffiti art, set against the backdrop of a dystopian neo-brutalist cityscape – part Jet Set Radio and Hi-Fi Rush, but with an identity of its own. The game follows Valah and her crew as they seek to liberate Cap City from the oppressive control of B Corp, using vibrant graffiti to reclaim the urban environment. Here are our thoughts. V Rising review (PS5)
For a while, Stunlock Studios’ V Rising had been making waves during its Early Access stage. This prompted us to speak to the developer a while ago, and now that the full game is out we’re checking it out on a PlayStation 5. Also available on Steam in its 1.0 version now, it invites players into a dark world where they start out as a weakened vampire, tasked with the usual: hunting for blood, avoiding sunlight, and rebuilding your castle to create a vampire empire. The game’s blend of survival mechanics and action RPG elements, combined with the vampire setting, makes for an experience that is both challenging and rewarding.
