Backward compatibility with consoles is a feature that many players want, but its implementation often doesn’t live up to the hype. With the next-generation, this trend looks to be bucked, with both Sony and Microsoft placing a firm focus on backward compatible games. Despite these improvements, however, total backward compatibility like that seen from the PS1 to PS2 appears impossible. Indie Interview: Innchanted (EuroPlay)

Last month’s EuroPlay contest was a lovely gathering of indie developers from all over Europe. But as with the EuroVision song contest, it also included a contestant all the way from Australia. Innchanted by DragonBear Studios represented ‘the land down under’ during the event, and even though it was the middle of the night for them we had a chance to talk to lead artist Susan Dang during the live event. We later followed up with Creative Director Paulina Samy to find out more about the game and how it’s being developed, which resulted in the following interview about this family-friendly genre-blender. Hotshot Racing review (Switch)

A clear homage to classic 3D arcade racing, Hotshot Racing feels like a great fit for the Nintendo Switch. Task Force Kampas review (Vita)

Releasing yet another retro-inspired game, EastAsiaSoft has brought us Task Force Kampas from developer Casiopea Wave. It’s out now for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, but EastAsiaSoft is also still supporting the PlayStation Vita – giving Vita owners a stab at a brand new title again.
